The Wellness Technology Lab examines how interactive computing systems can address the persistent health disparities that exist in our society. We have current projects examining: 1) how technology can address inequities in maternal and mental health, 2) how socio-technical interventions can support youth civic engagement and social capital building in low-SES communities, 3) the creation and dissemination of information during public health crises, and its impact in marginalized and underserved communities, and 4) technology-supported, faith-based health interventions in communities of color. These projects use a variety of methods (e.g., qualitative and quantitative methods, social media analyses, participatory design), and involve fieldwork, design, software development, and evaluation studies.
