We are looking to design a new programming language for crafters; instead of teaching people how to think more like a computer, we are interested in how to make programming languages meet people where they are. We are working with quilters – a community of creative practitioners who already engage with formal notations for their practice’s specialized knowledge. To bridge between design and computing disciplines, we propose to develop and evaluate a novel co-design methodology for programming language design that builds upon the HCI method of participatory design.
