Our research group develops theory and systems for privacy preserving analytics. Current research threads include: (a) quantifying and explaining error and bias in differentially private algorithms, (b) using secure computation and differential privacy to enable federated computation, (c) developing systems to thwart misinformation. We focus on research projects with real world impact (including applications to the 2020 US Decennial Census, the COVID19 pandemic and Vaccine misinformation). Duke University has one of the top research groups in databases and a growing security and privacy group.
