The Center for Mind and Culture (mindandculture.org) employs computational modeling and simulation, machine learning, and data analytics to address a variety of complex social problems. We’re looking for postdoctoral researchers to assist with two projects: the first employs an agent-based model to study the effectiveness of policies implemented in large organizations to address wage and health disparities according to gender and race/ethnicity; the second develops a system-dynamics model of the commercial sexual exploitation of children in order to help policy professionals determine the most effective strategies for combatting child trafficking. Our work is conducted in close cooperation with several initiatives within Boston University including the Faculty of Computing and Data Sciences (www.bu.edu/cds/), the Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science and Engineering (bu.edu/hic), and the Applied Simulation Modeling for the Advancement of Population Health group, which is a collaboration of researchers interested in conducting research projects and developing creative curricular pathways that integrate social science and data science.
